Killeen, TX – A 67-year-old woman was killed after a police pursuit led to a multi-vehicle traffic collision in Killeen on Wednesday morning, the Killeen Police Department said.
The deadly collision occurred around noon on February 5 at the intersection of Trimmier Road and Grandon Drive near the First National Bank of Texas.
Police said an officer identified a gray Jeep that had been reported stolen around 11:53 a.m. on February 5.
The officer tried to stop the Jeep, but the driver failed to stop and drove southbound on Trimmier Road and a pursuit ensued.
Authorities said Jeep swerved into the northbound lane during the chase and struck a silver sedan while trying to evade police.
The impact caused the sedan to hit a black pickup truck which in turn rolled onto its side.
The driver of the sedan, identified only a 67-year-old woman, was pronounced dead at the scene. Her name has not been released. Two passengers in Sedan and the driver of the pickup were injured in the incident. Police said the patients were hospitalized in stable condition.
According to Killeen PD, two suspects – ages 14 and 15 years, exited the Jeep and tried to run but were apprehended by officers.
The incident remains under investigation.
