Five people killed and eleven others injured in collision on Interstate 35 near Howard Lane in Austin

Austin, TX. – At least five vehicles were killed in a multi-vehicle collision that left eleven others injured on Thursday night in Austin.
According to the Austin Police Department, the tragic accident happened around 11:40 p.m. on Interstate 35, between Howard Lane and Parmer Lane.
Police say 17 vehicles, including a semi-truck, were involved in the pileup. Several people were trapped in the wreckage and had to be extricated.
An infant, a child, and three adults were killed in the accident.
Eleven people, including three children, were injured in the accident and were taken to the hospital for treatment.
More details about the accident were not released.
An investigation into the accident is underway.
