Midland, TX – One person was killed following an accident involving a loose tire near Loop 250 in Midland County on Friday, according to the Texas Department of Public Safety (DPS).
DPS troopers said the incident happened at bout 2 p.m. on November 1 along Loop 250 and involved a 2018 Ford F-150 and a 2024 Ford F-350 with a trailer.
DPS said the Ford F-350, operated by Troy Alan Gilbert, 45, was heading westbound on Loop 250 when the right-side tire broke off of the trailer and traveled across the westbound lanes and over the cable barrier.
The tire went onto the eastbound lanes and slammed into the windshield of the 2018 Ford F-250.
The impact caused the driver of the Ford F-250 to lose control of the vehicle, striking the cable barrier in the median.
The F-250’s driver was rushed to Midland Memorial Hospital, where he succumbed to his injuries and was pronounced dead on Saturday, November 2, according to DPS.
The deadly incident remains under investigation.
