According to DPS, the deadly accident, involving a Ford Fusion and a GMC Terrain, happened at about 3:40 p.m. on November 16 on Highway 19 near Lovelady.

Houston County, TX – Two East Texas students were killed and two adults were injured after two vehicles collided on Highway 19 in Houston County Saturday afternoon, according to the Texas Department of Public Safety (DPS).
According to DPS, the deadly accident, involving a Ford Fusion and a GMC Terrain, happened at about 3:40 p.m. on November 16 on Highway 19 near Lovelady.
Preliminary investigation, according to DPS, revealed that the Ford was traveling northbound and the GMC was southbound on Highway 19. The Ford drove off the roadway and the driver overcorrected the maneuver back to the left. As a result, the vehicle traveled into the southbound lane of the highway and was hit by the GMC.
A passenger of the Ford – a 16-year-old boy – died at the scene. The driver – a 17-year-old boy – was transported to Conroe Medical Center where he was declared deceased. Another passenger of the Ford was hospitalized with life-threatening injuries.
The driver and passenger of the GMC, both 60, were also hospitalized in unknown condition.
An investigation into the incident is underway.
