Fannin County, TX. – One person was killed and five others were injured in a collision on Thursday morning in Fannin County, according to the Texas DPS.
The wreck took place at about 10:30 a.m. November 14, on Highway 56 near County Road 1525.
According to DPS, a preliminary investigation revealed that a Jeep Cherokee headed westbound on the highway veered into the eastbound lane and collided head-on with a Nissan Sentra.
The driver of the Nissan was pronounced dead at the scene. One of his female passengers was flown to Medical City Plano where she was pronounced dead on Monday. A second female passenger was also flown to Medical City Plano with critical injuries.
The driver of the Jeep was airlifted to Parkland Hospital in Dallas with critical injuries. A 2-year-old passenger sustained critical injuries and was airlifted to Children’s Hospital in Plano. A second passenger, 4 years old, was also critically injured and was transported to Texoma Medical Center.
The incident remains under investigation.

The wreck took place at about 10:30 a.m. November 14, on Highway 56 near County Road 1525.
According to the DPS, two vehicles – one carrying a man and two females, and another carrying a man and two children – were involved in the collision.
The man who was in a vehicle with two women sustained fatal injuries and was pronounced dead at the scene. The name of the victim was withheld pending next of kin notification.
The two women, and the man and two children in the second vehicle were injured in the accident.
Four of the victims were flown to hospitals in Dallas, McKinney, and Plano. The fifth patient was transported by ambulance to Texoma Medical Center in Denison.
Troopers shut down Highway 56 for hours as they worked on clearing the wreckage.
The incident remains under investigation.
