Three people killed in multi-vehicle collision on Highway 36 near the Milam / Burleson County line

Milam County, TX. – A high school baseball player and his parents were killed in a collision involving an 18-wheeler on Monday night near Milano in Milam County.
According to the Texas Department of Public Safety, the accident happened around 4:40 p.m. on Highway 36 near the Milam / Burleson County line.
Clint McCaffety, 43, from Temple, was driving a Ford sedan and was stopped in the westbound lane in a construction zone. A 45-year-old female from Fort Bend, TX, driving a Kia SUV stopped behind the Ford.
A short time later, a 26-year-old man from Bellmead was driving an 18-wheeler when he crashed into the two vehicles.
The impact sent the Kia off the roadway where it overturned, and the driver was taken to the hospital.
McCaffety and his passengers, Meghan McCaffety, 39, and Connor McCaffety, 16, a Rogers ISD high school student, were killed in the accident.
The family was reportedly leaving a high school golf tournament in Brenham and on their way to a baseball game in Rogers.
More details about the accident were not released.
An investigation into the accident is underway.
