Houston, TX – Six people were hospitalized following an accident that also claimed the life of a pedestrian on the East Freeway in Houston early Saturday morning on August 10, according to the Houston Police Department.

Houston Police said a preliminary investigation showed a white Lexus HS was traveling westbound on the main lanes of East Freeway when a male pedestrian walked into the moving lane of traffic in front of the vehicle.

The driver, identified only as a 52-year-old woman, was unable to stop and hit the pedestrian. The woman immediately stopped her vehicle following the accident, and her car was rear-ended by a westbound red Kia Sorrento driven by a 42-year-old woman.
The pedestrian, a 36-year-old man, was pronounced dead at the scene. Both drivers and four passengers in the Kia were transported to an area hospital with non-life-threatening injuries.
No additional details regarding the accident were provided.
The crash remains under investigation.
