Nacogdoches, TX – Two people, identified as Dakoda Bennefield, 27, and Nancy Michelle Bennefield, 54, were killed and a third person was severely hurt after a two-vehicle collision on Highway 21 in Nacogdoches Friday afternoon.
According to Nacogdoches PD, the deadly collision happened at about 12:43 p.m. on April 25 on Highway 21 East.
Dakoda Bennefield and Nancy Bennefield Killed in Collision with Box Truck in Nacogdoches
The police said a Chevrolet pickup truck, operated by Dakoda Bennefield, and an Isuzu box truck were involved in the collision.
Reportedly, the box truck was driving westbound when it swerved to avoid hitting a stopped vehicle and collided with the pickup in the process.
Dakoda Bennefield was pronounced dead at the scene. His passenger, Nancy Bennefield, was transported to a local hospital where she later died from her injuries.
The box truck driver was taken to a hospital with severe injuries.
No additional details were provided.
The incident remains under investigation.
