The motorcyclist was critically injured and died from his injuries at John Peter Smith Hospital in Fort Worth on Monday, Nov. 11

Abilene, TX– A motorcycle rider was killed after colliding with an SUV on Buffalo Gap Road in Abilene on Sunday afternoon, according to Abilene Police Department.
The deadly accident happened on Sunday, November 10th, 2024 at approximately 2:10 p.m. in the 4400 block of Buffalo Gap Road, south of the Mall of Abilene.
According to APD, an initial investigation determined that a 2013 Ford Edge, driven by a 71-year-old female, was traveling north on Buffalo Gap Road and attempted to turn left into a private drive on the west side of the roadway. The Ford collided with a 2007 Harley Davidson Softail traveling south on Buffalo Gap Road.
The motorcyclist sustained life-threatening injuries and was transported to Hendrick Medical Center in critical condition. The male rider was later care-flighted to John Peter Smith Hospital in Fort Worth for further treatment.
APD said the man died from his injuries early morning of Monday, November 11th.
APD’s Traffic Division is investigating the collision and says intoxication does not appear to be a factor in this collision.
APD said that the man is the 3rd motorcycle rider killed in 2024 in traffic collisions on Abilene roads, and 12 total for fatal motor vehicle collisions in Abilene.
