Houston, TX – The Houston Police Department is investigating a deadly two-vehicle collision that occurred on Galveston Road in Houston early Monday morning.
The incident happened about 5:10 a.m. on April 7 at 3900 Galveston Road.
According to HPD, a preliminary investigation revealed that the driver of a black Chevrolet Silverado was heading southbound on Galveston Road at a high rate of speed.
As the driver approached a red light at the intersection of Galveston and Park Place, he attempted to swerve to avoid hitting a gray Chevrolet Suburban that was stopped at the red light.
The Silverado ended up clipping the Suburban’s side mirror and ran the red light, before hitting the culvert and rolling over.
Houston Fire Department paramedics responded to the scene and pronounced the driver of the Silverado dead at the scene.
The name of the 30-year-old man is pending notification to family members by the Harris County Institute of Forensic Sciences.
The driver of the Suburban was not injured.
The incident is under investigation.
