Houston, TX – One person is dead following a head-on traffic collision on Clay Road on the northwest side Thursday afternoon, according to the Houston Police Department.

The accident happened at 3:50 p.m. Thursday in the 15300 block of Clay Road near War Memorial Soccer Park.

According to HPD, a vehicle went over the center median and collided head-on with another car.

Police said one person died at the scene. It was not immediately clear if anyone else was injured in the accident.

Clay Road was shut down in both directions as HPD Northwest Patrol and Vehicular Crimes Division officers worked at the scene.

The deadly accident remains under investigation.
