Authorities say Tracy Daspit disregarded a red light while making a right-hand turn onto SH-71 and crashed into the truck tractor.

Austin, TX – One person was killed after a passenger car and a truck tractor collided on State Highway 71 in Austin Friday morning, according to the Texas Department of Public Safety (DPS).
The deadly accident happened at about 7:13 a.m. on October 18 in the area of Highway 71 and Thomas Springs Road.

According to DPS, a 2014 Kia, operated by Tracy Daspit, was traveling eastbound on Thomas Springs Road. At the same time, a truck tractor was traveling southbound in the outside lane of State Highway 71.
Authorities say Daspit disregarded a red light while making a right-hand turn onto SH-71 and crashed into the truck tractor.
Daspit sustained fatal injuries and was pronounced dead at the scene.
The driver of the truck was not injured. DPS said the driver remained at the scene and cooperated with the investigators.
The incident remains under investigation.
