Texas DPS said the deadly collision occurred at about 6:53 a.m. on February 25 on U.S. Highway 285 near mile marker 362.

Reeves County, TX – A 26-year-old Pharr resident, identified as Brandon Ruiz, is dead following a three-vehicle traffic collision that left one other person injured on US Highway 285 in Reeves County early Tuesday morning, according to the Texas Department of Public Safety.
Texas DPS said the deadly collision occurred at about 6:53 a.m. on February 25 on U.S. Highway 285 near mile marker 362.
Investigators said Brandon Ruiz was driving a 2004 Ford Taurus southbound when he veered into oncoming traffic and collided with a northbound 2018 Chevrolet Silverado traveling and a 2024 Chevrolet Silverado.
Ruiz was pronounced dead at the scene. Police said the deceased was not wearing a seatbelt at the time of the collision.
One of the other two drivers was transported to Reeves Regional Hospital with minor injuries. No other injuries were reported.
This deadly collision remains under investigation, and no additional information has been provided.
