The traffic collision was reported at around 10:40 a.m. on March 16 on FM 168 at FM 1062, about two miles north of Umbarger.

Randall County, TX – The Texas Department of Public Safety has identified a man killed and another who was injured in a traffic collision Saturday morning on FM168 as 57-year-old John Lucero of Amarillo and 37-year-old Sage Brannon of Silverton, Texas, respectively.
The traffic collision was reported at around 10:40 a.m. on March 16 on FM 168 at FM 1062, about two miles north of Umbarger.
A preliminary investigation revealed Lucero was driving a southbound 2018 GMC Sierra on the highway when he failed to stop at a stop sign and was struck on the driver’s side by a 2019 Ford F-250 towing a trailer driven by Brannon.
The Ford’s trailer became detached and rolled over into the ditch and through a barbed-wire fence.
Lucero was pronounced dead at the scene.
Brannon was transported to an area hospital with non-life-threatening injuries.
The Texas Highway Patrol is investigating to determine the cause of the collision.
