The deadly accident happened at about 5:45 a.m. on March 13 in the 5900 block of U.S. Highway 59.

Houston, TX – An 18-year-old man is dead and three other people hospitalized following a three-vehicle traffic collision on Southwest Freeway in Houston early Thursday.
The deadly accident happened at about 5:45 a.m. on March 13 in the 5900 block of U.S. Highway 59.
According to HPD, the driver of a white Ford Expedition heading southbound on the South Freeway had a flat tire and stopped in a moving lane of traffic. The Ford was rear-ended by a black Kia Sportage. The Kia was then hit by a silver BMW 5 Series.
Paramedics responded to the scene and transported three persons in the Kia, one passenger in the Ford, and the driver of the BMW to area hospitals.
HPD said the front male passenger in the Kia was later pronounced dead.
All other patients had minor injuries.
According to HPD, the male driver of the Ford fled the scene on foot.
The investigation is ongoing.
