Victor Avila was ejected from the vehicle and was pronounced dead at the accident scene
San Antonio, TX – The Bexar County Medical Examiner’s Office has identified a passenger who was killed in a two-vehicle traffic collision in San Antonio early Saturday morning as 24-year-old Victor Zarate Avila.
The deadly accident happened in the area of West Travis and Northwest 24th streets at about 12:38 a.m. on March 6.
San Antonio police said a Chevrolet Silverado, operated by Arthur Hugo Ruiz, 27, was traveling west on Travis Street when Ruiz disregarded a stop sign at the intersection with 24th Street and collided with a Nissan Sentra traveling south on 24th Street.
Victor Avila was a passenger in the Nissan. Police said Avila was ejected from the vehicle and was pronounced dead at the scene.
SPD said Ruiz has been charged with intoxication manslaughter with vehicle.

San Antonio, TX – One person was killed in a two-vehicle collision early Saturday morning in San Antonio.
According to San Antonio police, the fatal collision happened around 12:38 a.m. at the intersection of West Travis and Northwest 24th streets.
A Chevrolet Silverado was traveling west on Travis Street when the driver disregarded a stop sign and collided with a Nissan Sentra traveling south on 24th Street.
A 23-year-old male passenger of the Nissan was ejected and was pronounced dead at the accident scene.
The drivers of both vehicles fled the scene on foot, but the 27-year-old man driving the Chevrolet was apprehended a few blocks away from the scene. He reportedly showed signs of intoxication and was arrested.
More details about the accident were not released.
An investigation into the accident is ongoing.
