One Killed and One Injured in Jefferson County Two-Vehicle Crash on Highway 124 at Craigen Road; Armando Olvera Arrested

Jefferson County, Texas (December 23, 2021) – One person was killed, and another was injured Wednesday evening in a hit-and-run crash in Jefferson County, according to the troopers.

The deadly crash happened around 5:15 p.m., December 22, at the intersection of Craigen Road and Highway 124, just northeast of Hamshire.

Troopers said a 2010 Toyota SUV was traveling northeast on the highway behind a 1994 Mack dump truck.

For an unknown reason, the Toyota driver rear-ended the dump truck.

The dump truck driver fled the scene but was later located uninjured by the troopers.

The Toyota driver was taken to St. Elizabeth Hospital for treatment. The passenger was pronounced dead at the scene.

The dump truck driver, 26-year-old Armando Olvera of Beaumont, was arrested and booked into the Jefferson County Jail on a DWI charge.

No other information was available.

The crash remains under investigation.
