Christopher Borden Killed in Aransas Pass Bicycle Accident on Goodnight Avenue near Commercial Street
Aransas Pass, Texas (July 25, 2020) – A cyclist was killed Friday afternoon in a traffic accident in Aransas Pass, according to police.
The deadly accident happened around 2:30 p.m., July 24, in the 100 block of W. Goodnight Avenue, just before Commercial Street.
Police said a Chevrolet truck was traveling eastbound on Goodnight Avenue when it veered off the roadway and onto the sidewalk, where it struck 49-year-old Christopher Borden, of Aransas Pass, who was pushing his bike westbound and carrying his belongings.
The Chevrolet continued westbound through the intersection, and it stopped at the southeast corner of Goodnight and Commercial.
The Chevrolet occupants, a male and two females, cooperated with investigators.
Borden was pronounced dead at the scene.
Police arrested 31-year-old Heather R. Dean on Friday for manslaughter. She was the Chevrolet driver.
No other details were provided.
The crash remains under investigation.
