James Roy Sifford Killed, William Gamage Seriously Injured in Arp Two-Vehicle Crash on SH-135
1 Killed and 1 Seriously Injured in Arp Head-On Crash on SH-135
Arp, Texas (June 7, 2019) – A person was killed and another was seriously injured in a head-on crash Wednesday morning in Arp, Smith County, according to the Texas Department of Public Safety.
The fatal crash took place at about 4:44 a.m. June 5, on SH-135.
According to a preliminary investigation, William Gamage, 27, of Troup, was driving a 1996 Dodge Dakota northbound on the highway while a 2012 Ford SUV driven by James Roy Sifford, 54, of Arp was traveling southbound.
For an unknown reason, Gamage rounded a curve in the roadway and veered into the oncoming lane, resulting in a head-on collision with the SUV.
Sifford was pronounced dead at the scene.
Gamage was taken to UT-Health Tyler with serious injuries.
The crash remains under investigation.
