Jose Lopez Injured in Laredo Pedestrian Crash on Emma Lane

Laredo, Texas – A man was injured Tuesday evening after a car crashed into his property, and dragged him to the house next door, according to the police.

The accident happened around 6:00 p.m., March 5, in the 4500 block of Emma Lane.

Police said 51-year-old Jose Luis Lopez was in his backyard when a 2020 white Chevy Camaro crashed into the backyard fence, and dragged him to his next-door neighbor’s yard.

Lopez was taken to a San Antonio hospital with a broken back, and broken legs.

The Camaro driver, a 25-year-old, said that he tried to avoid hitting a vehicle by pressing on the brakes, but pressed on the gas resulting in the crash. He was cited for failure to control speed.

The police are investigating the crash.

Common Causes of Automobile Accidents

There are many different reasons why automobile, pedestrian, 18-wheeler, bicycle, and motorcycle accidents occur, including driver negligence, driver inattention, texting and driving, speeding, fatigue, failure to yield the right of way from a stop sign, or private drive, running a red light, and driving under the influence of alcohol or drugs. While the factors listed above are the main causes of most accidents, there may also be other factors involved, which is why it’s important that an investigation be conducted before evidence disappears, especially in cases involving a fatality.  At Joel A. Gordon & Associates, we will act quickly to secure accident scene photos, interview witnesses, obtain police records, and secure other valuable evidence needed to win your case.  Call now for a free consultation.
