Scot Bendixsen Killed, Lynette Bendixsen and Calvin Nichols Injured in Hockley County Car Accident on US Highway 62/82

Hockley County, Texas (April 30, 2022) – One person was killed, and two others were injured on Friday in a car crash in Hockley County, northeast of Ropesville, according to the Texas DPS.

The fatal crash happened around 10:30 a.m., on April 29, on US Highway 62/82.

DPS said a pickup truck driven by Calvin Chance Nichols, 31, of Brownfield, was heading southbound on the highway when it left the roadway, crossed into the median, and then into the northbound lanes.

Lynette Bendixsen, 62, of Carlsbad, was driving an SUV when she veered into the median in a try to avoid a collision.

Paul Terry Cardelli, 59, of Brownfield, was driving another SUV when he swerved toward the outside lane and shoulder.

The pickup truck and the first SUV then collided.

A passenger in the first SUV, Scot Douglas Bendixsen, 63, of Carlsbad, was taken to University Medical Center in Lubbock, where he was pronounced dead.

Lynette sustained minor injuries. Nichols was taken to UMC with minor injuries. Cardelli was uninjured in the crash.

The crash remains under investigation.
