6-Year-Old Payton Francis Killed in Car Crash on LBJ Drive in Somerville 

6-Year-Old Payton Francis Killed in Washington County Two-Vehicle Crash on LBJ Drive 

Washington County, Texas (May 10, 2020) – Four people, including a child, were killed and another was critically injured Saturday night in a two-vehicle crash in Washington County, south of Somerville, according to the DPS.

The fatal crash happened around 11:00 p.m. May 9, on LBJ Drive near Lake Somerville.

DPS said 37-year-old Ignacio Aviles, of Brenham, was driving southbound when he struck a guardrail and hit a northbound vehicle.

Aviles was taken to CHI St. Joseph Health in Bryan in critical condition.

The four people in the northbound vehicle were killed in the crash. They have been identified as 6-year-old Payton Francis, of Somerville, Jasmine Maxwell, 18, of Somerville, Chase Sowders, 18, of San Antonio, and Justin Richard, 37, of Houston.

The DPS is investigating the crash.
