Kandy Duarte-Cassiano Killed in El Paso Multi-Vehicle Crash on Interstate 10 at Hawkins

El Paso, Texas (September 20, 2021) – The woman who was killed early Sunday morning in a five-vehicle crash in El Paso has been identified as Abigail Duarte-Cassiano,27, according to the police.

The fatal crash happened around 2:08 a.m., September 19, on Interstate 10 west at Hawkins.

Police said a 24-year-old woman was driving a Ford Focus when she veered into another lane, hit a cement barrier along I-10, and came to a stop in the westbound lanes.

Rubina Galvan was driving a Chevy Silverado, and she stopped along the freeway. A 29-year-old woman who was driving a Honda Civic failed to stop and rear-ended the Silverado, causing it to roll over.

Duarte-Cassiano was driving a Nissan Sentra and struck the vehicles that had stopped.

A 21-year-old man who was driving a Chevrolet Silverado behind Duarte-Cassiano, T-boned the Nissan Sentra.

Duarte-Cassiano was killed in the crash.

Officers said charges are pending.

The crash remains under investigation.
