Pedestrian Struck, Killed by CapMetro Train in Leander

Pedestrian Killed in Leander Train Crash near US Highway 183

Leander, Texas (November 19, 2023) – A woman died when she was hit by a CapMetro train in Leander on Saturday afternoon, the Leander Police Department said.

The incident happened at around noon on November 18, near US Highway 183.

Police said the woman is believed to have been crossing the railroad bridge when she was struck by the train between Farm-to-Market Road 2243 and Sonny Drive.

Police said the pedestrian was pronounced deceased at the scene.

The identity of the pedestrian was not immediately released.

The two occupants of the train were not hurt.

The accident is under investigation.
