Two Killed in Wrong-Way Crash on Veterans Memorial Drive in Houston

Bicyclist, Driver Killed in Houston Crash on Veterans Memorial Drive

Harris County, Texas (May 26, 2020) – Two people were killed in a wrong-way crash Monday night in Houston, according to deputies.

The fatal crash happened around 9:00 p.m. May 25, in the 9500 block of Veterans Memorial Drive, north of 249 and west of I-45.

Deputies said a Harris County Deputy tried to pull over a driver for speeding, but he refused to stop and swerved into oncoming traffic where he struck a bicyclist and then crashed head-on into a Buick Lacrosse.

The Buick driver was airlifted to the hospital, where he later died. 

The bicyclist was also taken to the hospital, where he later died.

The identities of the victims have not been released.

The suspect was taken to the hospital in stable condition. He is facing two counts of Felony Murder.

An investigation into the crash is underway.
