Xzavier Sarmienta Killed, Brian Simmons Injured in Ellis County Two-Vehicle Crash on State Highway 34 near Bardwell Lake Bridge

Ellis County, Texas – One person was killed and another was injured Friday morning in a two-vehicle crash in Ellis County, according to the Texas DPS.

The fatal crash happened around 7:02 a.m., January 5, on State Highway 34 near the Bardwell Lake Bridge.

DPS said a 2014 Honda Accord was traveling eastbound in front of a 2017 Dodge Ram 3500. The Honda driver made a U-turn and was struck by the Dodge.

The Honda driver, Xzavier Sarmienta, 21, of Ennis, was pronounced dead at the scene.

The Dodge driver, Brian Simmons, 28, of Hubbard, was taken to Ennis Regional Medical Center with minor injuries.

No additional information was available.

The troopers are investigating the crash.
