1 Killed, 1 Injured in Head-On Crash on Highway 361 in Port Aransas
One Killed, One Seriously Injured in Port Aransas Collision on Highway 361 near Cinnamon Shore North
Port Aransas, Texas (June 16, 2022) – One person was killed and another was seriously injured in a head-on collision Thursday morning near Port Aransas, according to the Port Aransas Police Department.
The fatal crash happened at around 7:36 a.m. on State Highway 361 near the Cinnamon Shore North subdivision.
Police said a Chevrolet SUV was traveling southbound on State Highway 361 when the driver drifted into the opposite lane and collided head-on with a northbound Chevrolet pick-up.
The driver of the SUV was pronounced dead at the scene. The name of the victim has not been released pending notification of next of kin.
The pickup driver was trapped inside his vehicle and had to be extricated by emergency personnel. The patient was then airlifted to a nearby hospital in a life-threatening condition.
State Highway 361 was closed in both directions following the wreck.
The crash remains under investigation.
