1 Killed, 1 Injured in Semi-Truck Crash on I-35 in Austin

One Killed and One Injured in Austin Semi-Truck Crash on I-35 near 51st Street

Austin, Texas (April 21, 2021) – One person was killed, and another was injured early Wednesday morning in a two-vehicle crash in Austin, according to the police.

The deadly crash happened just before 2:45 a.m., on Interstate 35, near the exit for 51st Street.

Police said a semi-truck was stopped on the shoulder of the freeway because of engine trouble when it was rear-ended by a pickup truck.

Two people in the pickup truck were trapped in their vehicle.

The pickup driver was taken to the hospital with critical injuries. A passenger in the pickup truck was pronounced dead at the scene.

The identities of the victims have not been released.

No other details were provided.

The police are investigating the crash.
