One Killed in Dallas Dump Truck Crash at Lawson and Scyene Road

Dallas, Texas (October 1, 2019) – One person was killed Monday afternoon in an Amtrak train collision at the Kaufman-Dallas County Line, according to officials.

The collision occurred around 4:15 p.m. September 30, on the railroad tracks at Lawson and Scyene Road between Mesquite and Forney.

Officials said the 22-year-old driver dump truck drove around the crossing arms and was struck by the Amtrak train.

The train pushed the truck about a half-mile east of the railroad tracks.

The dump truck driver was declared dead at the scene.

None of the 79 passengers aboard the train were injured in the crash.

An investigation into the crash is underway.
