One Seriously Injured in Abilene Motorcycle Crash at Grape Street and Stamford Street

Abilene, Texas (November 25, 2021) – One person was seriously injured Wednesday afternoon in a motorcycle crash in north Abilene, according to officials.

The accident happened just before 3:45 p.m., November 24, at the intersection of Grape and Stamford Streets, near Interstate 20.

Officials said a car was stopped at the stop sign at Stamford Street. It then failed to yield the right of way to a motorcycle that was traveling southbound on Grape Street, resulting in a collision.

The motorcyclist was taken to Hendrick Hospital with serious injuries.

The car driver was uninjured in the crash.

Alcohol was not a factor in the crash.

No other details were provided.

The authorities are investigating the crash.

Most motorcycle crashes are caused by negligent drivers who don’t keep a proper lookout or fail to yield the right-of-way. Because motorcyclists are vulnerable, their injuries are usually severe, often suffering from road rash, broken bones, brain injuries, amputations, or spinal cord injuries. In some cases, the accident results in death.
