Two People Injured in Orange County Crash on Interstate 10 at Exit 879

Orange County, Texas (July 27, 2022) – Two people were injured in a collision involving at least eight vehicles Monday evening in Orange County, according to the Texas Department of Public Safety.

The multi-car accident occurred at around 5:30 p.m. Monday, July 25, on Interstate 10 eastbound at exit 879.

DPS said a 2008 Mazda passenger car was traveling on the interstate when one of its tires went flat and stopped in the road.

A 2011 Peterbilt truck tractor semi-trailer failed to control its speed and crashed into a 2014 Toyota passenger car. The Toyota was behind several other vehicles that were slowed due to the disabled car. This triggered a chain reaction.

The driver of the Toyota and his passenger were transported to Lake Charles Memorial Hospital in Louisiana with unspecified injuries.

The condition of the Peterbilt’s driver was not immediately known. The driver of the Mazda was uninjured.

Further details regarding the crash were not immediately provided.

The crash remains under investigation.

Common Causes of Automobile Accidents

There are many different reasons why automobile, pedestrian, 18-wheeler, and motorcycle accidents occur, including driver negligence, driver inattention, texting and driving, speeding, fatigue, failure to yield the right of way from a stop sign or private drive, running a red light, and driving under the influence of alcohol or drugs. While the factors listed above are the main causes of most accidents, there may also be other factors involved, which is why it’s important that an investigation be conducted before evidence disappears, especially in cases involving a fatality.  At Joel A. Gordon & Associates, we will act quickly to secure accident scene photos, interview witnesses, obtain police records, and secure other valuable evidence needed to win your case.  Call now for a free consultation.
