Victoria County, Texas (July 21, 2019) – Five people were killed and several others injured when three vehicles collided on a highway in Victoria County Saturday morning, according to a DPS report.

The wreck, which took place on U.S. Highway 59, five miles northeast of Victoria, occurred at about 10:56 a.m. on Saturday, July 20.

DPS said a semi-truck pulling a flatbed trailer was heading north on Highway 59 when, for unknown reasons, it was rear-ended by a 2016 Ford van carrying 10 passengers.

Five passengers in the van were taken to Houston and Victoria hospitals with unknown injuries.

The identities of the involved parties were not released.

The DPS is investigating the crash.
