5-Year-Old Killed and 14-Year-Old Injured in Rhome Two-Vehicle Crash on 287; Christopher Fowler Arrested

Rhome, Texas (December 20, 2021) – A child was killed, and another was injured early Sunday morning in a hit-and-run crash in Rhome, according to the police.

The fatal crash happened on December 19, on 287.

Police said Christopher Fowler, 18, of Northlake was driving on the wrong side of the roadway. A trooper saw him and attempted to stop the crash by driving parallel to him and cutting him off. The trooper was unable to make it in time, and Fowler crashed into another vehicle occupied by two children.

One of the children, a 5-year-old, was pronounced dead at the scene. The other child, a 14-year-old, was taken to the hospital with serious injuries.

Fowler fled the scene. Authorities were able to track him down, and he was arrested. He has been charged with one count of manslaughter and one count of an accident involving injury or death.

The authorities are investigating the crash.
