7 Injured in Two-Vehicle Crash on Texas Highway 171 in Hood County

7 Injured in Hood County Crash on Texas Highway 171

Hood County, Texas (August 28, 2019) – Seven people, including three children, were injured in a two-vehicle crash Tuesday afternoon in Hood County, according to the authorities.

The crash happened just before 2:00 p.m. August 27, in the 1600 block of Texas Highway 171.

DPS said a 2009 Dodge pickup was heading southbound when the driver, a 38-year-old man, lost control while going around a curve, skidded sideways, crossed into oncoming traffic and hit a 2006 Toyota pickup.

The Dodge driver, his wife, and their boys, ages 3, 5 and 8, were taken to Fort Worth hospital in unknown conditions. The family is from Deridder, Louisiana.

The Toyota driver, a 57-year-old man, and his 22-year-old son were airlifted to a Fort Worth hospital for treatment. They are from Early, Texas.

Investigators said the roadway was wet from the recent rainfall.

The DPS is investigating the crash.
