Andrew Gomez Killed in San Antonio Street Racing Crash on Prue Road near Kyle Seale Parkway

San Antonio, Texas (October 5, 2021) – The innocent man who was killed on Wednesday in a street racing crash in San Antonio’s Northwest Side has been identified as Andrew Gomez, 22, according to the police.

The fatal crash happened just before midnight, September 29, in the 800-block of Prue Road near Kyle Seale Parkway.

Police said a 22-year-old man was driving a BMW eastbound and was racing side-by-side with a Mercedes driven by an 18-year-old man. The Mercedes moved in front of the BMW, and after passing the signal light at Kyle Seale Parkway, the BMW crossed the double yellow line into the oncoming lane and accelerated to pass the Mercedes. As the BMW was traveling up a hill with an obstructed view of oncoming traffic, it attempted to swerve to the right, but it crashed head-on into an oncoming Nissan.

The force of the impact caused the Nissan to spin around into a ditch while the BMW spun out of control into a ditch and struck a fire hydrant before coming to a stop.

The Nissan driver, Gomez, was taken to University Hospital, where he was pronounced dead.

The BMW driver was taken to University Hospital with serious injuries. He had alcohol in his system and will be booked by proxy for Racing-SBI, Racing-Death, Manslaughter, and Intoxication Manslaughter.

The Mercedes driver was arrested and is facing charges of racing causing serious bodily injury, racing causing death, and manslaughter charges.

The police are investigating the crash.

Common Causes of Automobile Accidents

While there are many causes of car accidents, the most common reasons of driver negligence include driver inattention; cell phone use; texting and driving; speeding; fatigue; failure to yield the right of way from a stop sign or private drive; running a red light; and driving while under the influence of alcohol or drugs,” Attorney Joel A. Gordon said. Mr. Gordon believes that an independent investigation is important. An Attorney will help obtain the crash report, secure accident photos, interview witnesses, and create a claim.
