Potter County, Texas – The man who was fatally hit by a pickup truck Wednesday morning in Potter County has been identified as Anthony Autry, 34, of Atlanta, Georgia, according to the Texas DPS.

The deadly accident happened just before 6:00 a.m., April 24, on the northbound service road of Interstate 40 near Bushland, about nine miles west of Amarillo.

DPS said a 2007 Ford F250 driven by Timothy Steffens, 63, of Wildorado, was traveling eastbound on the service road when it struck Autry who was walking eastbound in the eastbound lane ahead of the Ford.

Steffens did not see Autry in the road, in his lane of travel, until it was too late.

Autry was pronounced dead at the scene. He was wearing all-black clothing at the time of the accident. 

The Texas Highway Patrol Troopers are investigating the crash.
