Charles Edward McCray Jr., Killed in Buna Bicycle Accident on US 96 near Business 96

Buna, Texas (June 10, 2020) – A bicyclist was fatally hit by an RV Tuesday afternoon in Buna, according to troopers.

The deadly accident occurred at about 3:30 p.m., June 9, on US 96 near Business 96.

DPS said a 2000 Motorhome RV was traveling southbound on the highway while Charles Edward McCray Jr., 21, of Buna, was riding a bicycle northbound on the southbound shoulder of the highway.

McCray, for unknown reasons, rode into the path of the motorhome and was struck by the RV.

McCray was pronounced dead at the scene. 

The RV driver, a 69-year-old Bronson man, was uninjured in the crash.

An investigation into the crash is underway.
