Christopher Sterling Killed in Ector County Motorcycle Crash on 16th Street near Palomino Avenue

Ector County, Texas – A motorcyclist was killed Saturday afternoon in a crash in Ector County, according to the Texas DPS.

The fatal crash happened around 4:12 p.m., January 13, near the intersection of 16th Street and Palomino Avenue.

DPS said 57-year-old Moraima Cardenas, of Odessa, was driving a 2001 Toyota Tacoma southbound on Palomino Avenue before turning left onto 16th Street, heading eastbound. Christopher Earl Sterling, 57, of Springfield Ohio, was driving a 2023 Harley Davidson FLHX eastbound on 16th Street when the Tacoma entered the roadway.

Cardenas moved into the right lane, where the Tacoma collided with the Harley Davidson.

Sterling was pronounced dead at the scene. He was not wearing a helmet at the time of the crash.

The crash remains under investigation.
