Crossing Guard Hit by Intoxicated Border Patrol Agent on Getty Street in Uvalde; Juan Perez Arrested 

Crossing Guard Injured in Uvalde Pedestrian Accident on Getty Street near Flores Elementary School; Juan Perez Arrested

Uvalde, Texas – According to the Texas DPS, an elementary school crossing guard was injured Tuesday morning after being struck by an intoxicated Border Patrol agent in Uvalde.

The accident happened around 8:00 a.m., February 20, near the 900 block of Getty Street just outside of Flores Elementary School.

DPS said the crossing guard was struck by a car and was transported to Uvalde Memorial Hospital in stable condition.

The driver, Juan Francisco Perez, fled the scene and was pulled over by officials. Perez was arrested for Driving While Intoxicated with an open container and Failure to Stop and Render Aid. He is a Texas Customs and Border Patrol Agent.

The crash remains under investigation.
