Daniel Olivarez Killed in DUI Crash on FM 2925 in Rio Hondo

Daniel Olivarez ID’d as Man Killed in Rio Hondo Crash on FM 2925 and SH 106; Woman Arrested

Rio Hondo, Texas (September 24, 2022) -The Texas Department of Public Safety has identified the man who died following an alleged DUI crash in Rio Hondo as Daniel Manuel Olivarez, 25.

The deadly crash happened at around 11:17 p.m. Friday, September 23, on FM 2925 and SH 106.

DPS said a white Mitsubishi was heading southbound on FM 2925 when the driver allegedly ran a red light at the intersection and collided with a Dodge Ram truck driven by Olivarez.

Olivarez, a resident of Rio Hondo, was taken to Valley Baptist Medical Center in Harlingen, where he later succumbed to his injuries.

The woman driving the Mitsubishi was taken to a hospital with non-capacitating injuries. She was later found to be under the influence of alcohol.

This crash remains under investigation. Additional information is not available at this time.
