Driver Killed in Crash with TxDOT Trailer on I-610 East Loop in Houston

Driver Killed in East Houston TxDOT Trailer Crash on I-610 East Loop at Lawndale Street

Houston, Texas – A driver was killed Friday night after crashing into a TxDOT trailer in East Houston, according to the police.

The fatal crash happened around 11:39 p.m., February 9, at the 610 East Loop and Lawndale Street.

Police said the driver of a vehicle lost control at the curve and struck an HPD officer who was working traffic control for the Texas Department of Transportation. The driver eventually crashed into the trailer of a TxDOT vehicle.

The driver was pronounced dead at the scene. The passenger was taken to a local hospital and is expected to be OK.

The HPD officer was uninjured in the crash.

The crash remains under investigation.
