Elexa Gray and 16-Year-Old Girl Injured in Lubbock Two-Vehicle Crash at 19th Street and West Loop 289; Cayetano Calzoncit Arrested

Lubbock, Texas (June 13, 2022) – Two people were injured Sunday night in a DWI crash in West Lubbock, according to the police.

The crash happened around 8:50 p.m., June 12, at the intersection of 19th Street and West Loop 289.

Police said a passenger car was traveling northbound in the 1900 block of the access road when it collided with a truck that was traveling eastbound in the 5800 block of 19th Street.

The driver of the car, a 16-year-old female, was taken to University Medical Center with serious injuries. 17-year-old Elexa Gray, who was the passenger in the car, was taken to UMC with moderate injuries.

The truck driver, 41-year-old Cayetano Calzoncit, was arrested for Driving While Intoxicated and was taken to the Lubbock County Detention Center.

The crash remains under investigation.
