Mark Vanmartur ID’d as Man Killed in Waco Crash on Lake Shore Drive

Waco, Texas (July 26, 2019) – Mark Vanmartur, 50, of Waco, has been identified as the man who was killed Thursday afternoon in a head-on collision in Waco, according to police.

The deadly accident happened on Lake Shore Drive on Thursday, July 25.

Authorities said a minivan driven by Vanmartur, was traveling eastbound on Lake Shore Drive when for an unknown reason, it veered into oncoming traffic and collided head-on with a van from the First United Methodist Church.

Vanmartur was pronounced dead at the scene. Vanmartur’s 7-year-old daughter, who was a passenger, was transported to the hospital with non-life-threatening injuries.

Five high school students and three adult leaders who were riding in the church van were taken to Baylor Scott & White Hillcrest Medical Center with minor injuries.

The cause of the accident remains under investigation.
