Ernestro Lugo Killed in Two-Vehicle Crash at County Road 300 and RM 652 in Loving County

61-Year-Old Ernestro Lugo, 5 Others Killed in Loving County Crash at County Road 300 and Ranch to Market Road 652

Loving County, Texas (June 1, 2022) – Ernestro Lugo, 61, was one of the six people who died following a traffic collision in Loving County on Monday morning, according to the Texas Department of Public Safety.

The incident occurred at about 8:00 a.m. Monday, May 30, at the intersection of County Road 300 and Ranch to Market Road 652, approximately 21 miles north of Mentone.

DSP said a Toyota Tundra pickup was heading northbound on County Road 300 when the driver reportedly ran a stop sign at the intersection and crashed into the left passenger side of a 2017 F-150 Ford pickup that was traveling westbound on Ranch to Market Road 652.

Following the collision, the Tundra slid through the intersection and struck a utility pole with its right passenger side. Three rear-seat passengers of the Tundra were ejected from the vehicle as a result of the crash.

The three ejected victims and the right front passenger of the Tundra died in the crash. The driver and the left rear passenger of the Ford F-150 were also killed in the crash.

Two other people were taken to Medical Center Hospital, one with serious injuries.

Authorities temporarily blocked the intersection for several hours as they investigated the scene.

No further details about the collision were immediately provided.

The accident remains under investigation.
