Ezekiel Sosa and Jonathan Ray Killed in Reagan County Semi-Truck Crash on SH 137 near Big Lake

Reagan County, Texas (September 6, 2023) – Two people were killed Thursday afternoon in a two-vehicle crash in Reagan County, according to the Texas DPS.

The fatal crash happened around 2:40 p.m., August 31, on State Highway 137, about 12 miles north of Big Lake.

DPS said Ezekiel Sosa, 27, of Big Lake, was driving a semi-truck southbound while Jonathan Charles Ray, 38, of Bay Springs, Mississippi, was driving another semi-truck northbound.

Sosa drove onto the northbound lane and crashed into Ray’s semi-truck.

Both vehicles were engulfed in flames after the crash.

Both Sosa and Ray were pronounced dead at the scene.

Sosa was not wearing a seat belt at the time of the crash.

The DPS is investigating the crash.
