Matthew Renaux Killed in 2-Vehicle Crash on Highway 110 in Smith County

Smith County, Texas (July 24, 2022) – The Texas Department of Public Safety has identified one of the five people who died following a head-on collision early Friday morning in Smith County as Matthew Renaux, 27, of Henderson.

The fatal crash happened around at about 5:20 a.m. Friday, July 22, on Highway 110 near County Road 48.

DPS said a 2017 Dodge Charger was traveling northbound on Highway 110 when, for an unknown reason, it collided head-on with a 2008 Chevrolet Tahoe that was heading southbound.

The impact caused the Dodge Charger to catch fire.

Renaux and two other occupants of the Dodge Charger were pronounced dead at the scene. The driver of the Chevrolet Tahoe and a juvenile passenger also died at the scene.

No other details regarding the crash were provided.

The crash remains under investigation.
