Lindsey Perry-Gray, H.O. Akin III Injured in Runnels County Crash on Highway 67

Runnels County, Texas (October 7, 2022) – Lindsey Gale Perry-Gray, 22, of Lewisville, and H.O. Akin III, 51, of Comanche, were injured after they were involved in a crash that left three people dead on Thursday morning in Runnels County.

The three deceased victims were early identified as Benjamin Nathaniel Sapp, 24, of Crowley, Jacob Alexander Gray, 25, of Lewisville, and Sarah Evelyn Brown, 48, of Brownwood.

According to the Texas Department of Public Safety, the deadly crash occurred on Highway 67, about 9.69 miles east of Ballinger, on Thursday, October 6.

DPS said Sapp was driving a car eastbound on Highway 67 when he attempted to pass a vehicle on a curve in the roadway and hit a pickup truck driven by H.O. Akin III, 51, of Comanche.

Sapp and one of his passengers, Gray, were pronounced dead at the scene. Akin’s passenger, Brown, also died at the scene.

A second passenger in Sapp’s vehicle, Perry-Gray, 22, was transported to Shannon Medical Center in San Angelo with incapacitating injuries. Akin was also taken to a hospital for treatment.

All five people were wearing seat belts at the time of the accident.

DPS is investigating the crash.
