Francis Montagne Killed in 2-Vehicle Crash on FM 2126 in Brown County

Francis Montagne ID’d as Man Killed in Brown County Crash on FM 2126

Brown County, Texas (May 20, 2023) – The Texas Department of Public Safety has identified the man who died following a two-vehicle collision early Friday morning in Brown County as 79-year-old Francis Montagne of Early.

The deadly crash happened at around 3:45 a.m. Friday, May 19, on FM 2126, about a mile-and-a-half east of Brownwood.

DPS said Montagne was driving a 2014 Ford Fusion southbound on FM 2126 when he crossed over the center median and collided head-on with a 2023 Freightliner truck tractor towing a 2018 Great Dane box-style semi-trailer.

Montagne, who was not wearing a seatbelt, was declared dead at the scene.

The Texas Department of Public Safety is investigating the crash.
