Gary and Janice King Killed in Hempstead Two-Vehicle Crash on Highway 290 near FM 1736
Hempstead, Texas (October 20, 2020) – A couple was killed in a two-vehicle crash on Sunday in Hempstead, according to the DPS.
The fatal crash happened on October 18, on Highway 290 near FM 1736.
DPS said a Ford Escape traveling eastbound on Highway 290 when it failed to yield the right of way while turning left and was struck by a Toyota Highlander.
The occupants of the Escape, Gary and Janice King, both 77, were taken to the hospital where they later died.
Two people in the Highlander, including a child, were taken to the hospital as a precaution.
The authorities are investigating the crash.
