Winkler County, Texas – A man was killed early Thursday morning in a two-vehicle crash in Winkler County, according to the DPS.

The fatal crash happened around 1:35 a.m., April 18, on State Highway 302 near mile marker 232.

DPS said a 2023 Ram pickup was traveling eastbound in the left lane while a 2016 Freightliner truck with a trailer was traveling westbound.

The pickup truck driver veered onto the wrong side of the road, not passing, and struck the semi-truck.

The pickup then rolled over, ejecting the driver.

The pickup truck driver, 42-year-old Gaylon Ray, of Bowie, Texas, was pronounced dead at the scene. He was not wearing a seatbelt at the time of the crash.

The crash remains under investigation.
